Hello,
Sorry I haven't posted much I started a new job and its been busy. I have a couple of questions if anyone has any input please let me know. The first question has anyone used any of the vocabulary builder videos that are advertised on the home page as links? If so are they helpful and worth the money. Secondly I noticed some computer software also for children with autism; has anyone tried this? My son just turned 8 and is able to do a vast amount of things, but his limited speech and vocabulary is holding him back. Just in the last 2 weeks his vocabulary use and sentences have doubled in length as well as difficulty. I know that it's there he just needs help getting it out. Please Help any advice, tips, or just reassurance would be a great help. Thanks

Hi Brink, I work with young autistic children , one of whom we are teaching to speak. Although your son is older, this still may be helpful. We show him objects or demonstrate something new to him, and we introduce a new word, or one he is learning. For instance, we blew some bubbles, and then said Bubble-Ba. We repeat the 'Ba' sound until he does, then blow the bubbles again. After he learned that sound, we added the "ble", so now he can say bubble!! It always helps too when you do a phonics program and teach them sounds. Hope that helps.
