My boy Sam is almost seven now. He's too big for patches, and too smart to trick into taking meds.
He's been on several, and now we're trying a different regimen. The new addition is Neurotonin - 1/2 tsp. twice a day, along with Pamelor in the evenings and Risperital at bedtime. Seems a bit much to me.
Anyway, of course he won't take pills. He peels off any patch we put on him, so I've always mixed his meds with root beer or Dr. Pepper (he loves these) before. Or just wrestled him down and made him take them.
The problem is the neurotonin. Anybody out there ever taste that stuff? It is just plain disgusting - no two ways about it! I tried root beer and Dr. Pepper, but the taste just blows right through those. Even a chocolate pudding (my usual last resort) is completely ruined by this stuff. 1/2 tsp. of neurotonin in 8 ounces of root beer, and you still can only barely taste the root beer!
This boy ain't gotta fall for that. He's getting too big for me to wrestle him down like I used to. Any suggestions?
