Often times parents in conversation with other parents will jokingly compare who's children's behaviors are worse or will compare " you only have one or two kids try my six" well anyone with an autistic child that is in need of behavior modification knows that six average kids are a sintch to controll compared to one autistic child.

I believe you!! I did bring up 4 children of my own - they are now 24,22,20,20 and at no time were they anywhere near as bad as my nephew who I am now bringing up and needing to get assessed correctly - I have had him assessed they say as ADHD/ODD but I and several other significant people I know believe he is actually Aspergers and possibly the other two as well. I have his grievance counsellor looking into getting him assessed by a pyscologist/psyciatrist (sp) who specialises in Aspergers but it comes at a cost so she is looking into possible avenues of financial help as well as I cannot afford the diagnostic fee.

Not for me. I'm autistic and when I'm looking after kids (babysitting or volunteering) I find autistic kids easier because it's easier for me to figure out how they're feeling and they're often good at amusing themselves. Just as long as I find something for them to do that I'm OK with them doing. And it's hard to explain, but they're less overwhelming. Less attention-seeking, often less noisy or noisy in a way that doesn't bother me as much. So I suppose it depends on the person. Ettina
