Hello,
I am doing my senior project on the effectiveness of Applied Behavior Analysis. I need to survey educators of children with autism to measure their success with ABA. The survey will involve about 10 questions that ask you to rate your student's improvement on a scale of 0-5. It should take no more than 10-30 minutes to complete it. Areas surveyed are:
- Use of non-verbal communication skills: eye-to-eye gaze, facial expression, body postures, and gestures to regulate social interaction
- Development of expressive language: words, phrases, conversation skills, etc
- Development of receptive language: following directions, picture identification, etc
- Stereotyped or repetitive use of language/ echolalia/ idiosyncratic language
- Appropriate use of make-believe play and social imitative play
- Acquisition of Activities of Daily Living Skills
- Flexibility in routines or rituals
- Self-stimulatory behaviors: repetitive motor mannerisms, preoccupation with a pattern of interest or with parts of objects
- Decrease of maladaptive behaviors: aggression towards others, self-injurious behaviors, tantrums, etc
I need 25-50 participants in the study. All students will remain anonymous and we can make an agreement about whether or not you remain anonymous. You will sign a waiver before completing the survey and mailing in your results. You may also complete the survey online, rather than through the mail, if you wish.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like any more information or you would like to participate. I would be glad to send you a copy of the final study in May.
Thank you for your help.
