Hello, I am a mother to 3-year-old fraternal twin boys and an almost 1-year-old boy.
The twins were born 29-weeks gestational and have not had any major medical issues. They are developmentally delayed and, just before their 3rd birthday, we have finally found out that one is High Functioning Autistic and the other is Moderate Autistic.
In the last couple of months, we have begun seeing similar traits in the nearly 1-year-old and we have requested that he be evaluated A.S.A.P. because we want to start intervention, for him, as soon as possible.
Both my parents and my husband's parents are in denial ("There just can't be anything wrong with my grandchildren") and, because of how busy we are with doctor appointments, evaluations, therapy appointments, school appointments.............we have all but lost all of our friends (who, by the way all have girls and no signs of Autism).
We feel very alone in our daily struggles. We have looked for local support groups but the nearest one is either too far away for either of us to attend or in a community where we just don't fit in (i.e. Middle Class people in the "Rich and Famous" neighborhoods).
So, I sought out online support and here I am.
I love to talk and I love to listen. I also love to share so do not feel like you cannot ask me a question. My life is an open book (I will not share my SSN, Bank Accounts........snicker) so ask/talk away. I am looking forward to meeting y'all in the days, weeks, months.......ahead!

Bless your heart. I am brand new to group. Have an 8 yr. old son on spectrum. First diag. was PDD-NOS, now dr. feels is ASP. Syndrome. We adopted him at birth. Other kids are grown, 27 and 29. This is the hardest work I've ever done. Can't imagine 3 little guys. I really hope you can find help from some friend or relative. You and hubby will need respite. Need someone willing to learn about their behaviors, that loves the kids and kids like too. Hopefully the folks will come around. Ours have never spent 10 min. alone with our little guy. I understand they don't know what to do. But my one sister and her family are a godsend. Even keep him overnight! Just remember every day is a new day and forget about yesterday!
