Hi, I am a 28 year old female with a severely autistic 3 year old daughter. She is nonverbal. I want to do some research on the causes of autism. I want to know if it was my fault. Was it something I did while pregnant? Or is there a genetic link? So anyway, after reading about Autism/Asperger's I am realizing that I possess a large amount of the symptoms described. It goes way back to my childhood. I was in gifted classes, yet was always known for being "quiet as a mouse." I've always had a fascination with license plates, patterns, and am an expert at cryptograms. I am shy, and in High School saw a psychologist because of my antisocial behavior. The list goes on and on, but my main question is this. Is there a test that can be performed to determine if somebody had Asperger's? Or does the doctor just diagnose it? If I have more children, will they be autistic? Is there any way to treat my Asperger's? I am just curious about these things, any info is appreciated, thanks.

no there is no test , it must be diagnossed and if you have another child it is not definant that they too will be autistic , however the chance is greater when you allready have an autistic child. cheri Hi, I am a 28 year old female with a severely autistic 3 year old daughter.
