So I am just wondering how many kids out there with autism hate music. I am wondering this because I read that most like the music but I have a 5 year old with autism who cannot stand music. He just covers his ears and screams and cries like he is terrified, especially if we take him into church before the choir finishes singing. I wonder if this is the autism or is it something else.

My ASD son loves music as a majority of other ASD parents. Its probably nothing to worry about. Sometimes their brains have a peculiar way of dealing with too much information. My son is deathly afraid of whole pineapples and whole brown coconuts...figure that one out. He's six-years-old. In fact, my son almost requires music everyday (the oldies and pop). His neurologist wont give me a straight opinion about music.

My ASD kids love music!
Just about anything, Hendrix, Mozart, Beethoven, Rammstein, Type O Negative, especially Queen! They dance & spin and hold hands while running in a circle.
My daughter has weird crying fits if there's music on a commercial or movie that is supposed to elicit a specific mood, even if it's meant to be happy. Maybe because it's more simple music?
